Christmas in Argentina

Posted on 2007.12.25 at 22:00

Hmm... i don't really know where to start. There isn't a lot to say though. Everything seems very casual and that Christmas isn't a very big deal. I was watching t.v on Christmas eve, (after i went shopping for last minute christmas gifts... along with half the town apparently.) and there was nothing christmasish on! i couldn't find a single christmas show, in spanish or english! so that kinda sucked. and for rest of the day didn't really do anything at all. I helped Diana and Fernando make a fruit salad for later that night and I had a nap. haha that is about it. But for supper we all went to Diana's sisters house, and we were with all the family so that was similar. But we didn't eat anything traditional because my aunt works all the time and didnt have time to cook. so we ate empanadas and sandiwches and simple bought things, they were still good. and after we ate our fruit salad and a ton of other sweets. fruit cakes and chocolate and honey roasted nuts. whole bunch of good fattening stuff! Then at midnight everyone was setting off fireworks. that was really awesome. all over the town you saw them in the sky. it was pretty sweet. i really enjoyed that. then around 1:30 i went with and hung out with my friends and around 3 we went to the bar which had tables and a band and everything set up outside and it seemed like the entire town was there. and i stayed out there until about 5. everyone was dancing and having a good time, but i was kind of sad and missing home, so i came home early but i still had fun. my brothers didnt come home until like 7:15!
Then my parents woke us up at 9:30 today and we opened gifts. well. gift. we all only got one gift from them. i'm not sure if that is normal or they opened others without me or what. but its ok either way. i got a really cute black sport squort (skirt with shorts) i wore it today. haha its really comfortable. the boys loved the canadian t-shirts i gave him. and well i dont know what felipe thought of the watergun, he didnt say anything. Carlos and Diana really liked their girfts too. as well as my friends, everyone seemed really happy with everyhing so that's good. then later today we went to another family member's house. there was pork (they cooked the entire pig. i know because i could see what was left of its face... including its snout and teeth. discusting,) and there was also chicken which was really good. there were also a couple of cold dishes. one was thinly cut beef covered in a fish sauce (uh. ew.) and another was chicken mixed with mayo, peas, potatos and olives. it was alright, not my favorite but it was good. then for dessert we had fruit salad again (an this is real fruit salad with super fresh fruit! yumm) and homemade ice cream! it was so good.  and then we hung out and visited for awhile then came back home and kind of did our own thing, and well that was christmas haha. tonight i'm going out with friends and yah. thats how it goes. haha
hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and has a great New Year too!
love you all!
